This class is the second half of the Winter/Spring 12-week program, with select sessions conducted online. The Beginner–Intermediate Chinese Class is designed to bridge foundational language skills and more advanced proficiency. Intended for learners with a basic understanding of Mandarin, the course strengthens language ability through structured grammar practice, expanded vocabulary across practical themes, and integrated development of listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills—using traditional Chinese characters. In addition to language instruction, the class places strong emphasis on cultural learning. Through interactive activities such as dialogues, role-plays, and guided discussions, students explore topics including traditional festivals, family and social customs, food culture, cultural values, and everyday life in Taiwan and other Mandarin-speaking regions. This cultural immersion enhances fluency while deepening contextual understanding and authentic communication skills. Regular assessments and constructive feedback support students’ steady progress toward intermediate proficiency and foster a meaningful appreciation of Chinese culture and society. Based on students’ proficiency levels, a separate beginner class may be offered to better meet individual learning needs. Instructor: Peichi Huang For more information: info-tcml@smchineseschool.com
