The summer strength & conditioning camp will provide students athletes with 1 hour of strength training and 1 hour of speed, plyometric and core training coached by the Athens powerlifting staff. The camp will be broken into 2 groups, beginner and advanced. Beginners will be for all 6-9th graders and anyone that has not taken intro to weight training or strength and conditioning classes or participated in a V sport or powerlifting. The advanced session is for those that have taken the mentioned classes, played a V sport or are a member of powerlifting.
The training difference between the groups will mostly be the weight room training. In the beginner session they will be taught the basic form and techniques of squat, hinging, bench press and rowing. Those in the advance session are expected to know how to perform these basic movement patterns.
Speed training will consist of drills that will improve the technique and overall speed of the athletes. Plyometric training will focus on athletes learning how to jump and land will proper form and then progress to improving their force production in multiple planes of motion to allow them to execute better in their sport.
Whether it is weight room, speed or plyometric training, our number one focus is strengthening the athlete's body for injury prevention and performing better on the field.
