Beginner-Intermediate Chinese

Enrichment - Adult / Languages for Adults -
2025/2026

This class is the first half of the Winter/Spring 12-week program, with some sessions held online. The Beginner–Intermediate Chinese Class serves as a bridge between foundational language skills and more advanced linguistic concepts. Designed for learners with a basic understanding of Mandarin, this course focuses on strengthening proficiency through structured grammar practice, expanding vocabulary across practical themes, and developing core skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing—using traditional Chinese characters. In addition to language instruction, the class places strong emphasis on cultural learning. Students will engage in interactive activities such as dialogues, role-plays, and guided discussions that explore cultural topics including traditional festivals, family and social customs, food culture, values, and everyday life in Taiwan and other Mandarin-speaking regions. This cultural immersion not only enhances language fluency but also deepens students’ contextual understanding and authentic communication. Regular assessments and constructive feedback support students’ progress toward intermediate proficiency while fostering a deeper appreciation for Chinese culture and society. Based on students’ knowledge levels, a separate beginner class may be offered to better meet their learning needs. Instructor: Peichi Huang
